DESCRIPTION

A rainbow trapped inside a gemstone is what they say about opals. The birthstone for Librans is an opal and the Celtic symbol for those born under this star sign is the butterfly, said to represent the eternal soul and symbolic of the Libran power to change and the ability to enchant all those around her.

Wearing an opal helps a Libran in her constant search for balance (the scales) harmony and inner peace.

The body of this butterfly has two large tear drop opals and two small, tear drop opal gemstones. The antennae have tiny dots of aqua enamel at their tips and there is a raised rope edge to the pendant, with a tear drop shaped holder for the chain.

DIMENSIONS

The pendant measures 25mm; the tear drop opals are 8 x 6 mm each and 6 x 4 mm respectively. The metal for both the pendant and the chain is brass with one micron of recycled 18k gold vermeil so the gold should last well. The reason some of our pieces are made of brass, not silver, is that should the vermeil begin to wear off, it will not show nearly so much on brass thus giving your piece a long life of wear. Please take care not to get perfume near the pendant or chain as it erodes the gold vermeil.

The pendant comes with its own chain, which is interspersed with tiny gold balls, and is 18 inches long in total, including a two-inch extension, and fastened with a lobster claw.
